Locus 1.2.3
A steady keyboard on your desk.
Desk & Surroundings is the default immersion again, so your physical keyboard stays where it belongs. This update also brings a few smaller fixes and faster loading.
Desk & Surroundings is the default again.
Visitors told us that in Windows & Crown their physical keyboard seemed to float and slide against the desk as they moved their head. It was worst right after looking away, at a Mac screen for example, and then back. We reproduced it and measured it on Apple Vision Pro. Locus holds the desk perfectly still; the drift comes from how visionOS draws your keyboard in Windows & Crown, and no setting an app controls changes it. We have reported it to Apple.
In Desk & Surroundings the keyboard stays steady, so new installs now start there, and it comes first in the Immersion choice.
Already on Windows & Crown?
You stay on it; Locus doesn’t switch you. What’s New in the app explains the change and links straight to the choice, which you can also find in Settings under Immersion. Windows & Crown is still there if you prefer it: your windows stay in front of the Room and the Digital Crown brings your real surroundings back in. Its description now mentions the keyboard drift.
The trade-off runs the other way, too. In Desk & Surroundings, parts of the Room can cover a window, and the Crown doesn’t adjust immersion. We have asked Apple for a way to have both.
Smaller fixes, faster loading.
Entering a Room no longer occasionally drops you into passthrough. Places keeps its cards in a stable order, starts from the top when you change tabs or filters, and keeps its margins when you change Rooms. Rooms and Views also load faster.
